With the summer season coming to a close we need to tidy up the premises; hedge trimming, gutter clearing, weed removal and painting the shelters/pavilion. Please can you help this Saturday if you are available from 10am and bring any suitable garden equipment for the above jobs apart from paint and brushes which will be provided.
Also with the weather on the turn please can all members refrain from parking on the grass whenever possible by using the driveway/hard standing areas.

The pairs final was held today with Joey Copeland & Dave Allister deserved winners over Dean Simmonds & Nigel Whitehurst. They become the first winners of the Eric Barklem Pairs Trophy. A few weeks ago in the singles final Steve James was victorious against Dean Simmonds and became the first winner of the Eric Barklem Singles Trophy. Congratulations to all the participants and especially the winners who will be presented with the engraved trophies at the presentation evening in due course.

The grass green will close next Sunday 27th September. There will subsequently be a deep scarification of the green.
Tonight, Tuesday, sees the finals night for the Ormskirk League’s Lethbridge Cup (singles) at Aughton Institute. Two of our club members are through to the last 8 – Ian Mayne and Dave Roper. Start time is 6.45pm after the draw, so go along and give them some support.
Wednesday evening sees the finals night for the Aughton League’s Bleasdale Cup. This is also a singles competition and from our club we have a raft of qualifiers in the last 8 – Emma Gill, Paul Taylor, Dave Roper, Ian Gill, Katie Fenney and Kev Maher. That rolls off at 6.30pm and is followed by the Presentation Night in the Institute, which also celebrates 100 years of the League. Once again, come along and support your club members. You will also see our Ormskirk Castle team getting a special mention for their runners up spot in the League and the Knockout Cup. Well done to them.
Our Ormskirk Owls team is playing in the Maghull League Cup Final tonight at Scarisbrick NSC (Bullens Lane) against Formby Village. The match rolls off at 7pm if anyone would like to go and watch. Let’s see if the Owls can swoop in to take the trophy and cap off a great season as they have already won promotion!
We have a small team of volunteers who help with mowing, artificial green upkeep and general greens maintenance.
On the basis that during the season we need to mow the grass green 3 times a week apart from the surrounds which also need mowing regularly, we would be grateful if any members could join our team which would also be beneficial to cover holidays, etc.
