AGM Success

Thanks to all those that turned up to the AGM.  It was a great success as we increased our membership by 40%.  We now have 28 members and we should be able to grow that significantly as we move towards getting our greens developed.  Thanks also to the Cricket Club for hosting the meeting.

Well done Ian and all the committee for getting the project this far.

I left the meeting thinking about one thing in particular – working capital, the thing that kills most businesses/projects in the early years.

It would be interesting to learn if the funding providers would be willing to allocate some of their money to working capital – without it the project they are funding could become (in the worst case scenario) a ‘dead duck’.

Of course they may argue that this should be provided by the club so it is a sensitive issue but one worth pursuing with caution.

It all comes down to recruiting enough members who are willing to pay a reasonable sum (more than most existing club subscriptions I suspect) – I know this is stating the obvious and I know it is something which is already being thought about.

One idea off the top of my head is to sell 5 year memberships at a discounted rate – money up front of course.

Another possibility is some form of debenture or loan arrangement to people who really want to support the project.

One other question I have is one off ownership – who will own what ? at what point do the greens and equipment become the property of the club?

    Just a few initial thoughts…

    Cheers

    Don Morris
