We are delighted to announce that our new bowling facilities will be officially opened by John Parrott MBE on Sunday 26th June at 11am. We are planning several activities including a draw to play against John and quick competitions that bowlers (or anyone really) of any ability can enter. All members and local people are welcome to attend and a full programme will be published shortly. We would like a photo on the day of all our members so please put the date in your diary and attend if you can.
There will be a meeting held up at the bowling greens (if the weather is ok) for all members to attend to find out more, and if possible to offer a bit of help to get things ready, on Wednesday (15th) at 9ish (upon the finish of the Ormskirk A v Ormskirk B game on the green). Please attend if at all possible as we want to make this event as special as possible.
For those of you that didn’t know John used to play crown green bowls as a teenager with his father in Wavertree, Liverpool, and was a quarter finalist in the Junior Waterloo. He only tried snooker when the green was closed due to rain one night – the rest as they say is history. John is now an Honorary Patron of the British Crown Green Bowling Association and a great ambassador for the sport.
