Ormskirk Bowling Club

As part of our Lottery grant funding the Club has now purchased a ‘Bradshaw Buggy’ wheelchair for use on the greens. Further equipment will be purchased to assist those who have trouble bending or who are unstable.

Following the very popular Winter Pairs Knockout competition held last year by the Maghull & District Bowling League @OBC; it is planned that this competition will be run again for 2024.  Interested Ormskirk Bowling Club members that have not participated in the Winter Pairs League are also invited to enter the Pairs Knockout Competition (32 Pairs total) which will be run by the Maghull & District Bowling League on the Artificial Green over 3 Tuesdays.

The Winter Pairs Knockout competition is planned to commence on completion of the Winter Pairs League, starting Tue 12 Mar 24.

The Knockout Heats will be held in 4 groups over 2 days, 

Tue 12 Mar 24 -10:30 am (8 pairs down to 2)

Tue 12 Mar 24 -13:00 pm (8 pairs down to 2)

and 

Tue 19 Mar 24 -10:30 am (8 pairs down to 2)

Tue 19 Mar 24 -13:00 pm (8 pairs down to 2)

 Finals on Tue 26 Mar 24 – 12:00 pm (Final 8 Pairs)

 There will be an entry fee of £2.50/Player (£5/Pair).

As Eric is going to be unable to attend to the greens for most of the season we are going to need some volunteers to help out.

We will set up a rota for the work that needs to be carried out and a major part of this will be mowing the grass green, scarifying,etc.

Please can you join us at the green this Saturday 17th Feb at 2pm if you are able/willing to assist for a demonstration. Eric will run through the mower,etc (don’t worry we will be making notes!).

Congratulations to this month’s winners. The draw was conducted yesterday by Martin Roberts. To those existing and new members who would like to support the club, details to join and pay £5 a month per ticket are on the 100 Club tab on the club website. Your contributions are/will be greatly appreciated.

The green is now open. Please note that there are still a few icy patches on the road up to and around the green so take care. The vast majority of the green is clear please stay away from the area still to thaw and do not attempt to clear it as this may damage the green.

We will rearrange the green slitting as the ground is too hard at present.

Please note the green is closed until the thaw sets in. It is not safe around the green so please do not attempt to bowl or try to clear the ice off the green.
