Volunteers Needed

An event for several primary schools to come and have a try at some fun bowls games is being held indoors at Burscough Sports Centre on Monday 24th April (this coming Monday), from 12.30 to 3pm. We have a few volunteers already to assist on the day but could do with a few more. You will be briefed on what to do prior to the start but you do not need to be an expert bowler to help. If you are interested in helping or would like more info please contact Ian Gill by email at iangilly66@gmail.com or call him at 07500 918 081.

Winter Singles League – Division 1

The first division of this year’s Winter Singles League was hard fought with some great matches. Steve James came out on top, only losing one game against Ted Baker. Aaron came second just pipping Ian Gill and Mike Fagan by one point, although he still had one game left to play. Some good performances saw relative newcomer, John Leadbetter, soar to a very creditable 5th place.

Presentation & Social Night 6th April

We held a very successful night at The Aughton Institute on Thursday. As well as presentation of last year’s trophies we had some exciting horse races courtesy of Ian Gill and two bowls games. Also Alan Bellis kindly donated another meat pack which contributed to over £200 raised for the club on the night.

Thank you to all those who attended and a special mention to Ian Gill for organising the games and Alan Bellis for his kind donation.

Some of the winners are highlighted below.

Fantastic turn out and tidy up

A big thanks to all those that turned out this morning to fill in holes, cut back and dispose of vegetation and line the gutters around the grass green. It is certainly true that many hands make light work!

Spic and Span

Marvellous work today from Margaret, Pauline and Peter who gave the pavilion a good spring clean. Please could all Members leave the pavilion in the state in which they found it so it remains nice and tidy for everyone.

Also a reminder that we will be having a general tidy up of the gutters and other bits and pieces in the morning (Sunday) starting at 10am, so please come and help if you can.

Groundforce Day Sunday 2 April 10am onwards

We are requesting help to get the club ready for the new season this Sunday.

Please can you bring hoes to clear the debris off the carpet in the gutters to install the covering. Also cutters/loppers to trim the branches from the trees. The pavilion also probably needs a tidy up and a general pre-season spring clean is appropriate. Some of the pot holes also need refilling.

Thank you for your support.
