Ormskirk Bowling Club

A Maghull Winter Pairs League is planned to be played on our artificial green  

Dates for the league are still to be confirmed but it is expected to be held weekly on Tuesday Afternoons starting @ 1pm

• The format will be two pair games for each team  (Pair A + Pair B)
• Teams require four players to play (2+2)
  
• Each team plays each other over the weeks, 
  
• Each Match consists of Two pairs games at 21 up – ie “Team 1 Pair A plays Team 2 Pair A” on completion “Team 1 Pair B plays Team 2 Pair B”
• 1 Point for each game won + 1 point for the highest Aggregate of the 2 games (half point each, if the Aggregates tie)
  
• 4 fixtures each Tue Aft (4 matches of 2 games each)
• 1pm start (TBC).
• £1.50 per player per game
• Ormskirk will have 2 Teams (2 Teams of 4 – that will be 8 Ormskirk players needed per Tue Aft
• You won’t be expected to play every week – so if you are not available every week, but would still like the opportunity to play; That will not be a problem
• For those that played in the recent Evening Pairs mini League – the format is exactly the same.

Work was carried out on the floodlights today and with the two dodgy lights repaired and all the lights adjusted it seems to have made a big difference. A big thanks to Nick and Barry who did all the work today, they have done a marvellous job.

Anyone wishing to play in the Winter Ladder please contact Ian Gill.  If you played last year you will automatically be entered again this year unless you let us know otherwise.  Anyone wishing to join as a winter member please complete the membership form on the Join page of this site.  The ladder will be starting soon and further details will be posted shortly.

Please could all bowlers using the greens now park on the gravel area and not drive onto the grass.  The wet weather has meant that the grass has started to get churned up. Many thanks for your co-operation.

This weekend’s ground force has been cancelled due to the inclement weather.

Please note if you are coming to help with the greens tomorrow you may have to park outside the clubs as there is a beer festival at the cricket club and access may be blocked.

Please note that end of season renovation work is being undertaken on both greens this week.

On Saturday 28 September Eric will need members help from 12 noon onwards to remove the cores after hollow tining. Please bring shovels (snow shovels are ideal) and a wheelbarrow if anyone has one.

Please note both greens will be closed on 28&29 September.
