Ormskirk Bowling Club

Due to a poor forecast for rain for most of the afternoon the decision has been taken to postpone the Chairman’s Cup competition. A new date will be circulated so keep your eyes open for updates on the website.

The forecast is not good for the Chairman’s Cup competition tomorrow.  Please keep an eye on the club website in the morning and a decision will be reached by 11am as to whether it will go ahead or not.

The final club comp of the year will be held this Sunday and all club members are welcome to come along and play, whatever the ability.  Any juniors are welcome to play with parents or relatives.  Please arrive by 12.45pm, at the latest, to be entered into the draw – pairs will be drawn on the day.  Entry will be £2 per person with all monies paid out as prize money.  The comp will be round robin with both greens used.

As an added bonus our illustrious Chairman will be bringing some food along for all the competitors!  Last year we had a great spread so it should be a great afternoon all round.

Congratulations to Pauline Snelson & Mike Fagan who won the Autumn Pairs Competition today, defeating Tony Williams & Margaret Copeland in the final 10-3.

There was a healthy turn out for our penultimate pairs comp.  Pairs were divided into three groups for the initial stages and played matches to a number of ends shared between the two greens.  Group A was won by John Leadbetter & Julie Brennan, with Dan & Matthew Finch the runners-up.  Pauline & Mike took the Group B title and in Group C 5 pairs slugged it out with Margaret & Tony, with Rylan Irwin & Les Farrell getting second place to also qualify for the semis.  Surprising ‘wooden spooners’ were Joey Copeland & Martin Roberts in Group A and Ian Gill & Winnie Rowland in Group C, with no wins at all!

just a reminder that our Autumn Pairs club competition will be held this Sunday (15th). All members welcome, just turn up at 12.45 and pairs will be drawn out of the hat.

We have applied to join the above league which has been approved subject to confirmation at the Annual General Meeting. Please let me know if you are interested in being in the team which will play on Wednesday afternoons. Email confirmation to follow.

Please note that there is a major final at the cricket club on Sunday starting at 12 noon so just be aware as it is likely to be very busy in the car park.

The final two annual club competitions takes place as above and we look forward to a good turn out from our members.

The format will be pairs (drawn on the day), round robin but with all beginners being paired with a player. Children are welcome to play with their parents/relatives if they wish.
