Further poles up

Yet more great progress with the floodlighting columns. Eight have now been put up and the rest will be put up next weekend. The actual floodlights themselves will come in about 4 weeks.

Great Progress

Great progress was made yesterday in digging out the holes ready for our lighting columns to be erected, and in putting in the electric cabling. One column was also put in.

Bon Voyage

On behalf of our club, our Chairman Steve James would like to wish all the best to Matthew who leaves for America on Sunday for 3 months.  Matthew was our ‘Player of the Year’ last year and has now not lost in the Ormskirk League since August 2016.  Matthew will be sorely missed by the Ormskirk and Westhead teams that he plays in.  He has come a long way since his earliest playing days, so we have thrown in a reminder of how he used to look all those years ago!

Heavy labour

A big thank you to all those club members who came and helped move the 13 heavy floodlight poles up to the green – the chiropractors and osteopaths will be busy in the area for some time to come!!  The poles should be installed over the weekends of 2nd/3rd June and the 9th/10th June.  The lights should then be installed the following weekend.  Exciting times, it will be great to get both greens floodlit.

No special equipment or clothing is necessary, just wear trainers or flat soled shoes.  If any members would like to come along to help out they would be more than welcome – why not bring a non-playing friend along?  Crown green bowling is a great cheap sport to get some gentle exercise and to socialise so come and give it a try.

Lancashire Juniors

There were 7 Members of our club representing Lancashire Juniors today. Well done to all those who represented the County against South York’s, both in the home leg at Wigan Subs (Emma Gill, Rylan Irwin, Chris Farrell and Brandon Deegan) and in the Away Leg in Sheffield (Andrew Arnold,  Lily Copeland and Harry Copeland). This demonstrates the growing strength of our junior section who should be honoured to represent their county.
