Ormskirk Bowling Club

Great news, our Ormskirk BC led by Tash Hauley have reached the Final of the Division 2 Knockout Cup.  They defeated the Dog & Gun A on the Cockbeck green tonight by 6 winners to 3 and taking the aggregate.  The Final will be held on 1st August on a neutral green and they will play either the Botanic or Saracens in the Final.

Lovely hanging baskets have arrived courtesy of Ian, Wendy and Hannah Jones. They are very thirsty though so if you are at the club please give them a quick water.

Our Ormskirk League Premier Division team was in action tonight against league leaders the Skem Park Rebels. Our team was lying in second place and had previously folded against the League’s top team. However, there was a seismic shift in fortunes tonight with us taking 7 out of the 10 games to win the match 9-3. Not quite enough to go top, but a magnificent win nonetheless and a great step forward for our club.

Congratulations from all at the Club to Chris and Lauren Horsfall. Our latest bowler, Frederick George Horsfall (Freddie) was born at 4.53 this morning – Mum and baby are doing fine! Chris even managed to captain the team and play his match last night before racing to the hospital.

Anyone aged 16 or under is welcome at our junior bowls sessions on Thursdays at 6pm.

Well done to Lily Copeland, who was runner up in the Lancashire Juniors training competition last weekend. Lily only lost by 21-17 in the final. Earlier in the day there was a classic match between Lily and brother Harry, which Lily won 13-12.  It was good to see our club well represented once again at the top junior level.

Great to see so many of the juniors from our club at Lancashire training today.

The Club will be holding a special session for Ormskirk Brownies on Friday evening from about 6.15 to 7.45 on the artificial green, so it will not be available for members between those times.

It is a lovely evening and some of our new and more experienced bowlers are out in force tonight for our first social bowling session – 17 in total. Hope everyone enjoyed it😎.

The Club will be starting social bowling sessions for members (starting this week) on Thursdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm.  Just turn up and play with similar like minded members.  We will monitor how these work and if necessary introduce more if there is a demand.
