Bowl for Fun Sessions for New Bowlers

Ormskirk Bowling Club is starting a 6 week series of sessions to help you meet new people, learn a new skill and get a bit of gentle exercise. Starting on Thursday 4th May at 7pm you will be welcome to come along and give bowling a go. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like – each session is £2. The sessions will be run by our trained coaches, but the emphasis will be on you having a bit of fun and the chance to socialise with a tea or coffee at the end. You can register your details at https://ormskirkbowlingclub.com/interested-in-bowling/ and we will contact you with further information, but if you are not sure yet just turn up on the night.

If any of our members would like to come along and help on the night then you would be more than welcome. Please pass the information on to any friends or relatives who may be interested.

Volunteers Needed

An event for several primary schools to come and have a try at some fun bowls games is being held indoors at Burscough Sports Centre on Monday 24th April (this coming Monday), from 12.30 to 3pm. We have a few volunteers already to assist on the day but could do with a few more. You will be briefed on what to do prior to the start but you do not need to be an expert bowler to help. If you are interested in helping or would like more info please contact Ian Gill by email at iangilly66@gmail.com or call him at 07500 918 081.

Winter Singles League – Division 1

The first division of this year’s Winter Singles League was hard fought with some great matches. Steve James came out on top, only losing one game against Ted Baker. Aaron came second just pipping Ian Gill and Mike Fagan by one point, although he still had one game left to play. Some good performances saw relative newcomer, John Leadbetter, soar to a very creditable 5th place.

Fantastic turn out and tidy up

A big thanks to all those that turned out this morning to fill in holes, cut back and dispose of vegetation and line the gutters around the grass green. It is certainly true that many hands make light work!

Spic and Span

Marvellous work today from Margaret, Pauline and Peter who gave the pavilion a good spring clean. Please could all Members leave the pavilion in the state in which they found it so it remains nice and tidy for everyone.

Also a reminder that we will be having a general tidy up of the gutters and other bits and pieces in the morning (Sunday) starting at 10am, so please come and help if you can.
