Ormskirk Bowling Club

If you are enjoying the World Indoor bowls on the telly, and fancy having a go yourself, get in touch with us.  Ormskirk Bowling Club has two crown bowling greens, one grass and one artificial.  We are a relatively new and growing club and we welcome new members and beginners of all abilities.  We will be holding taster sessions and an ‘open day’ when the weather improves in March/April.  Get in touch via the ‘Contact’ page of our website and we will be back in touch when we set some dates.  Bowls is a fantastic social sport, which you can play just for fun or competitively in one of our many teams playing in local leagues.  Could you play as well as Nick Brett?

The Club’s AGM & Presentation Night will be held tomorrow (Monday 20th January) starting at 7.15pm in the Cricket Club pavilion.  Please can as many members as possible attend. We hope to see you there.

The above meeting and awards night will take place at Ormskirk Cricket Club and we would like as many members as possible to attend.

The evening will commence with the junior awards and season report followed by the agenda which we will send out nearer the time and senior awards.

The games are now mounting up in the Winter Ladder.  Kevin Wilcox has taken over the No1 spot and will probably be difficult to displace.  New player, Ian McKeever, who was previously in top spot was beaten by experienced bowler Pauline Snelson, however he put in a very creditable performance to only go down 21-19. A Maghull Winter Pairs League is planned to be played on our artificial green  

Dates for the league are still to be confirmed but it is expected to be held weekly on Tuesday Afternoons starting @ 1pm

• The format will be two pair games for each team  (Pair A + Pair B)
• Teams require four players to play (2+2)
  
• Each team plays each other over the weeks, 
  
• Each Match consists of Two pairs games at 21 up – ie “Team 1 Pair A plays Team 2 Pair A” on completion “Team 1 Pair B plays Team 2 Pair B”
• 1 Point for each game won + 1 point for the highest Aggregate of the 2 games (half point each, if the Aggregates tie)
  
• 4 fixtures each Tue Aft (4 matches of 2 games each)
• 1pm start (TBC).
• £1.50 per player per game
• Ormskirk will have 2 Teams (2 Teams of 4 – that will be 8 Ormskirk players needed per Tue Aft
• You won’t be expected to play every week – so if you are not available every week, but would still like the opportunity to play; That will not be a problem
• For those that played in the recent Evening Pairs mini League – the format is exactly the same.

Work was carried out on the floodlights today and with the two dodgy lights repaired and all the lights adjusted it seems to have made a big difference. A big thanks to Nick and Barry who did all the work today, they have done a marvellous job.
