Ormskirk Bowling Club

The floodlight luminaires were being installed yesterday and the electrical connections should be completed today.

Details below, Sian Gibson from Car Share and Hacker T Dog from CBBC will also be joining those listed.

Our bottom of the table team, Ormskirk BC, pulled off a brilliant victory against our table topping Ormskirk Phoenix tonight in the ‘carpet derby’. Tash Hauley led her team from the sidelines and it bodes well for their cup final appearance against the Botanic in a couple of weeks.

The following Club Competitions will be held this year so please put these dates in your diary:

• Sunday 29 July   Roy Ashcroft Memorial Trophy
• Sunday 2 September –   Co-op Funeralcare Singles
• Sunday 16 September –  Autumn Pairs

The Club will be hosting the annual West Lancs and Sefton Junior Bowls Merit this coming Saturday on both greens.  Players are asked to arrive for 10am with a view to starting at 10.30am.  Proceedings are expected to last until mid afternoon.

Any Club members who would like to help out on the day with drinks/raffle/marking etc are more than welcome.  If anyone has raffle prizes they can donate all proceeds will go to trophies etc for the children.  The 12 & Under and 16 & Under trophies were both won by players from our Club last year so let’s hope for a similar result this year.

Check this out, in four of the leagues we are in players from our teams lead the way. This reflects well on the Club, particularly as two are in the top divisions! Better show it now before anything changes😀

Peter Bailey has kindly donated four ‘Crown Green Bowls for Beginners’ books for our club.  They will be paced on the bookcase for members to borrow.  Please return them after use for others to borrow.  Some of our more experienced bowlers may also benefit from the advice contained within!

Ormskirk BC blooming nicely tonight on and off the green, 12-0 winners against Stanley Arms tonight. Good win also for our Ormskirk Castle team 10-2 on the grass in the 1st Division. Great to see both greens in use.

A charity bowls pairs competition is being held on Saturday 7th July at Oakhill Park Lydiate. Entry fee is £5 per pair and is open to anyone over the age of 15. You can choose your own partners or enter into a draw. Round robin basis. Winners receive a cheque made out to the charity of their choice. Registration is at 10am to 10.30am. 11am start. Refreshments and a raffle available.
