Hoovering the Green

Barry Gill gave the green its first Hoover after the delivery of our new ‘sportsvac’ today. The machine did a good job of clearing the debris off the green.

Few jobs

If anyone can spare an hour or so tomorrow (Sat) please come down to the club at 9.30am as there are a couple of jobs that need doing. Thanks for any help that you can give.

If anyone is good at woodwork and could assist with renovating our benches please get in touch with our Chairman, Steve.

This has been a historic week with us playing our first two matches on our new green and it appears to suit us. On Wednesday night the Ormskirk B team had 7 winners out of the 9 to beat Tute B, and last night our Ormskirk Millers team beat Skem Park with 7 out of 10 winners. Well done to all that played. Some pictures of the action are set out above.

Path completed

The path was being completed on Friday. We have been advised to let it set until Monday to avoid treading any tar into the artificial green. Members will be contacted when it is ok to use.

Tarmac going on

The first layer of tarmac went on today and should be completed tomorrow. We will advise as soon as it is completed and can be walked on.

Path Laid

This evening Steve James and Ian & Matthew Gill laid flags to form the path to the store so that the mower and new ‘Hoover’ can be put in there. Not a bad job for amateurs, but it was 2 hours of backbreaking labour!

Junior Match

The Ormskirk Vikings christened the new green with a match against the Scarisbrick Saracens on Saturday. The team included some players who hadn’t played much yet this season, plus we were still getting to grips with the new surface, Unfortunately we lost all our singles, but took one of the doubles, with Jack Denning and James Fairley (on his debut) getting the victory.
