Ormskirk Bowling Club

The small pavilion at the Windmill was dismantled this afternoon. At one stage it was looking a bit dicey as to whether it would come down but Frank from Mallinsons came and saved the day. Big thanks to those that helped – Mike Needham, Ken & David Knowles, Steve James, Ian Gill, and (latterly when most of the work had been done) Steve Denning. Special thanks to Frank Garner from Mallinsons.It will be transported to the Cricket Club tomorrow.  Anyone available to put the shed segments on the vehicle at 12.30 is more than welcome at the Windmill.

Now the weather has improved progress is speeding up. The bases for the paths have been laid with the exception of the cricket club side. The base has also been put in for the pavilion that we are bringing from the Windmill.  All the earth needed has been put on the grass green and the sand needs spreading and working in. As previously emailed out to Members, our new sponsor (Co-operative Funeralcare) is offering free tickets to the International Open Bowling Tournament at Newton Hall Holiday Park, Blackpool between 6-11 March. All the top flat green players will be there from all over the world. If anyone would like tickets (first come first served) please let Ian Gill know. The semis and final are on Fri 11th and there is also a free lunch on that day. Ian Gill may be going on the Fri so could offer a lift if anyone is interested. On the Wed and Thurs sessions run at 9.30, 2pm and 6pm.

The Club is really pleased to announce that co-op funeralcare, based in Wigan Road, Ormskirk, will be sponsoring us for the 2016 season. The company are great supporters of bowls nationally and it is wonderful that they are the first to sign up to our sponsorship package.  Janine Owen, manager, has said how pleased the co-operative funeralcare, Ormskirk are to support such an exciting new bowling club which will provide a quality facility for the local community.  We look forward to, what will hopefully be, a long and fruitful relationship for both parties.
