This was from last week just after works had started
Day 2 and the site is already looking clear. Excess soil is being removed by tractor & trailer.
Mallinsons began on site today and have started by stripping the existing turf. A dilapidation survey has been undertaken from the cricket club entrance and around the site to ensure that any damage can be re-instated.
The pre-commencement meeting was held today with Mallinsons, who have been selected to construct the bowling greens. The good news is that they will be able to start on site on 2nd November and completion of the works is expected to be in early January. It is great that we are finally moving on this project. Once works start we will post pictures and keep you updated on this website and through our Facebook page and Twitter feeds.
I am pleased to announce that we received planning consent this evening for our two bowling greens and associated facilities. Now we can really make progress. Watch this space for developments…..
The Borough Council’s Planning Committee will consider our planning application at its meeting on Thursday 8th October. The officer’s report can be viewed at: http://online.westlancs.gov.uk/coins/submissiondocuments.asp?submissionid=17310

The Waterloo finals day is on Wed 16th September. I have already acquired 4 free tickets (worth £15 each for seating) off the sponsors Co-op Funeralcare for the Windmill BC. If anyone is interested in going for a full day of bowling, betting & possibly a drink or two, then please let me know and I will see if I can get my hands on any further free tickets. You also get the chance of being on TV as it is being broadcast live this year on ITV4. Contact Ian Gill for more details
