Just to make you aware that Mere Brow Ladies will be using the artificial green from 10am to 12 noon the next two Saturdays. There may only be half a dozen of them so there will be space for members to play as well.

Ormskirk Bowling Club is starting its popular ‘Bowl for Fun’ sessions on Thursday 15th May at 7pm. These are aimed at complete beginners and are a great introduction to crown green bowls in an informal and fun way, with qualified coaches showing you how to play. Last year over 30 people attended and over 20 ended up joining the club! There are 6 weekly sessions, each lasting about 1.5 hours and costing £3. You can attend as many or as few as you wish. All attendees qualify to join the club at a reduced annual membership rate for this year of £25 (normally £50).

We are looking to have a female representative on the Executive Committee potentially replacing Ian Gill as safeguarding officer. Full guidance will be given and a DBS check will be required.

I have been asked to remind all BOWLERS not to use the car park at the Dog &
Gun but to park on the nearby roads. This is to try and ensure that the
bowling green will continue to be available for bowling so it is vital
that we all comply with this. 

We have extended the deadline for clothing orders until the end of the month to give everyone chance to see the samples, which are at the back of our pavilion on the desk. It would be great if we could get as many members as possible to wear our polo shirts, sweatshirts or hoodies to impress out on the green. You can also order shower jackets, gillets or caps. Congratulations to this month’s winners especially Stuart at your first attempt! Your prizes are on the way. The draw was conducted at Wednesday’s vets match by Dave Hulse. To those existing and new members who would like to support the club, details to join and pay £5 a month per ticket are on the 100 Club tab on the club website. Your contributions are/will be greatly appreciated.

We are starting our junior sessions this Thursday (10th) at 6pm-7pm. All ages (4-16) are welcome to come and have a go, no experience is necessary. and all equipment is provided. Junior membership for one year is only £10, or you can just pay per session at £2 (£1 for each additional sibling) per session. We do lots of fun games as well as learn how to play bowls and play matches. If you would like more information please contact Ian Gill on 07500 918 081.

The grass green has now been opened for members to use. However, please refrain from using the green if it is raining heavily, the green is very wet or if there has been a frost.
